'Not all participants resisted taking on the identity of a military wife, with some able to use this identity to find employment and volunteering opportunities within the military community.

'In doing so, spouses were able to mitigate the negative effects of accompanied postings on their own employment and well-being and gain a sense of connection, purpose and value through employment within the community:

"… the job I currently do now I did … I’ve done in [multiple] locations. I actually work for [welfare service] … that is probably what really helped me because I was able to use, and I still do today … I use my experience in the Army to help people every day."
